President Bio's Inauguration Ceremony


HE Bio Says in His Inauguration.

A spectacular inauguration ceremony has been held for President Bio as the newly elected president of the Republic of Sierra Leone on Saturday 12th May 2018 at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.

Many African presidents graced the occasion some of whom president Bio referred to as his brothers and partners in development. These African States included The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Guinea and Senegal.

After the arrival of invited dignitaries from around the World, various cultural performances took place followed by president Bio’s inspection of the Military’s Guard of Honor. Prayers were offered for the new president and the Country. A traditional libation was also poured by the country’s traditional elders as President Bio’s inauguration coincided with his 54th birthday.

Before President Bio’s address to the nation and international guests, he was sworn in by the Chief Justice -Justice Abdulai Charm, and then the presidential staff was handed over to him by his predecessor former President Ernest Bai Koroma.

In his keynote address, President Bio was quick to state that work has started immediately noting that a war has been declared against indiscipline and Corruption in Sierra Leone. He expressed a reflected that he is father of Democracy. According to him, as a young Military Head of State in 1996 he handed over power to a democratically elected government.

President Bio stressed that his government is prepared to fulfill its promises adding his government will not politicize independent institutions and will practice what is good for the people of Sierra Leone.

He expressed gratitude to his predecessor -Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for the smooth transition of power and for the gains made for the country in the past ten years.

President Bio briefly spoke of his government flagship programs like quality and free education for both Primary and secondary levels. He thereby expressed his commitment to accomplish it.

Sustainable electricity supply was another issue the new president spoke about in his inauguration as he explained that sustainable electricity would bring investors to the country and it serves as a pillar of development in any country. He appealed to partners to assist in this direction.

Inclusive government was another thing president Bio torched as he said his government is going to use anybody as long as he/she can perform irrespective of party affiliation, region, tribe etc.

 The new president also said that the people of Sierra Leone yearned for a change of government during the elections which has been effected.  

The newly inaugurated President Bio, concluded by emphasizing that work has commenced in earnest and no more politics, he then raised the presidential staff high in one hand and walked back to his seat.
