Deputy Minister of Information and Communication visits Barefoot Women Solar Training Centre

DEPUTY MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS VISITS BAREFOOT WOMEN SOLAR TRAINING CENTRE

Information Directorate, Youyi Building, Sierra Leone, Monday 5th June, 2018 –Updating the Deputy Minister on the Barefoot Women Solar Project at the Barefoot Women Solar Training Centre  Konta Line, the Chairman, Saidu Conteh, revealed that project was initiated back in 2003- 2004 by Idriss Kamara who thought it fit that Konta Line must be blessed with such opportunity.

In his welcome address, Secretary General of Barefoot Women Solar, Edward Musa Anaque said, fifty nine women across the country started the training process in the spirit of spreading solar electricity nationwide. He added that these women received training and actualize their dream without any support from government. But with support and dedication of the Manager of Barefoot Women Sola, Haja Nancy Kanu single handedly, solar electrification was extended to the youths of Konta-line.  

Haja Nancy Kanu also explained how she acquired her training in India as an illiterate, and how she strived to acquire her knowledge to meet her goal as a solar engineer, now training people of her beloved country. She said Barefoot Women is in line with the government of the day as it is in the interest of the whole country.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ahmed Conteh, who facilitates the Deputy Minister’s visit to Barefoot Women Solar, said the immediate response of the Deputy Minister and the inclusiveness of Koya Community, Konta Line to be specific, show that there is a call for development. She reiterated that under the New Direction Sierra Leone shall prosper.

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Solomon Jamiru, applauded Barefoot Women Solar management in their efforts and commitment to initiate development across the country. He assured them of relaying the message of the institution for immediate attention to the necessary authorities. 
He commended the  Manager, Haja Nancy kanu and Idrissa Kamara for the solar initiative they have brought, which has helped transformed the the Konta Line Community noting that anyone who elevates his people is a plus to that generation.
He assured that the government of President Bio will see the vision of Barefoot Women Solar actualized as the new direction agenda is based on development.
