Chief Minister visits Ministry of Information and Communication

Information Directorates, Youyi Building Sierra Leone, 4 June, 2018 - The Chief Minister Professor David Francis during an interactive session with staff of the Ministry of Information and Communications outlined his role and functions. He said the role of a Chief Minister is not a new title, adding that it was introduced in 1954 when Sir Milton Margai became the first Chief Minister.
This designation he went on, has now received Parliamentary approval. Professor Francis reiterated that the Chief Minister plays three important roles; serving as Inter-Ministerial Coordinator at cabinet level, interfacing with all the ministries, and supervising government projects.

He furthered that his mandate is to provide support to ministers as they face the challenges in governance. The role of the Chief Minister he emphasized is manifold and these include Chief Innovator of service delivery, strategic policy and planning.

The Minister of Information and Communications. Mohammed Rahman Swaray described the visit as an eye opener for staff members to have a deeper insight into the operations of the office of the Chief Minister 

The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Memunatu Pratt lauded the efforts of Professor Francis and commended him for his role in setting up the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies of the Fourah Bay College, (USL)
