Updating the media at the Ministry of Information and Communications conference room, Julius Daniel Mattai, the Director General of the National Minerals Agency (NMA), said that since July 3rd 2019, SL Mining Company has been temporarily banned from shipping minerals.
He stated that the reason for the decision is as a result of blatant violation of a provision stipulated in the Mines and Minerals Act of 2009, pointing out that the company had earlier on given false statements to government in relation to its rights and responsibilities.
Moreover, the DG said the Attorney General’s Office has brought forward complaints to the Mines Ministry regarding the company’s corrupt dealings.
Mr Mattai assured all of government’s commitment to providing much needed benefits from the nation’s minerals.
