By Musa Kamara

In the conference hall of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA), professionals from the Entertainment Industry in collaboration with MTCA and the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MOYA) on Monday 2nd September 2019 through the Tourism Minister announced 7th December 2019 as the slated date for a first of its kind Salone Music Festival and Tourism, a 100% Sierra Leonean program, dubbed “National Peace and Cohesion Concert” to be held at the National Stadium.

Unveiling the banner, the Minister of Tourism, Dr Memunatu Pratt, assured all of the New Direction government’s commitment to rebranding the entertainment sector, saying institutional building is an integral element in her mandate with tourism and culture becoming the stunning success of the transformation of Sierra Leone.

Such a festival, she said, would bring tourists and Sierra Leoneans to a very glittering display of culture and sweet Sierra Leonean music.

The Minister therefore urged all to make it count, adding that her Ministry and the Youth Ministry will stand up for such a splendid festival that would be showcasing Sierra Leone’s finest in the entertainment arena.

Madam Pratt also entreated Sierra Leoneans to make the festival count and called on all to put on cultural attires to celebrate Sierra Leone.

In his statement earlier, Elkass Sannoh, the Director of Communications in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, said that since the dawn of the country’s Independence, the New Direction government has provided what he called “more youth empowerment and capacity” than any government.

C-Bolt from the “Manzu Avec C-Bolt” fame said that youth empowerment is an essential element of national development and that the December 7 2019 Salone Music Festival is one big platform where Sierra Leone’s culture would be displayed. “Sierra Leone is all we got and this is a very simple platform to market our country,” C-Bolt said.
