DEPUTY MINISTER OF LABOUR CALLS ON YOUTHS TO LEARN SKILLS FOR A BETTER FUTURE

The Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, Lansana Mohamed Dumbuya has encouraged youths who are currently undergoing a three month intensive stitching and sewing training at the YWCA vocational training center in Freetown to be dedicated in the training for them to live a better condition in future.

He said the training which is facilitated by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and supported by the Embassy of China in Sierra Leone is a demonstration of President Julius Masada Bio commitment for job creation, particularly for youths.

Mr. Dumbuya assured them that with the skills they will acquire in the training, couple with a sense of entrepreneurship, they can establish a tailoring industry which can create employment and also serve as a vocation training center.

He said the ministry will continue to cater for diverse skills training opportunities for youths for the labour market, locally and internationally.

On behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone, Mr. Dumbuya thanked the Government of China, through the Embassy of China in Sierra Leone for providing the training,including the sewing machines, fabrics and utensils to the people and Government of Sierra Leone.

A trainee, Fatmata Kargbo, thanked the Government of Sierra Leone,particularly the Ministry of Labour and Social Security for the training opportunity accorded them.

The training which caters for forty five youths, mostly females is conducted by Hunan International College in China.
